Meet Ryan. Ryan is a licensed clinical marriage and family therapist (LCMFT), working as an associate with Tiffani Stevenson Lloyd, LLC. He loves working as a therapist to help individuals, couples, and families find greater hope and happiness in their personal lives and relationships.
Thoughts on therapy. “Life can feel out of control and overwhelming. Sometimes in spite of our best efforts, we can’t see any improvement at the end of the day, leaving us feeling alone, exhausted, and in despair. Just as you would go to a medical doctor for help in healing physical wounds, going to a therapist can help provide new insights, skills, and techniques to heal from and overcome the emotional and mental wounds and daily challenges that life can inflict on us. It has been my pleasure over the years to assist wonderful people to reduce their burdens and and increase the happiness and satisfaction they feel in their lives and relationships.”
Experience. Ryan received his education and clinical training at Brigham Young University, completing degrees in Psychology (B.S.) and in Marriage and Family Therapy (M.S.). He spent his first five years in Washington DC working as a therapist for youth and adolescents who were growing up in high-risk environments, as well as working with individuals, couples and families in private practice. He then lived in Utah for some time where he continued his work as a family therapist in a public elementary school and a middle school, as well as in private practice. He has since moved back to the DC area to pursue a doctoral degree in Family Science at the University of Maryland and has joined up with Dr. Tiffani Lloyd in her practice.
Specialties. Ryan has experience helping clients with a variety of concerns, including marital difficulties, pornography addiction, anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, anger, grief and loss, behavioral difficulties in children, blended families, trauma, and numerous other individual and relational challenges.
Treatment Approaches. He has been trained in a variety of treatment approaches, allowing me to best meet the unique circumstances of each individual. Some of these treatment approaches include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Play Therapy, Theraplay, and Structural Family Therapy, among others.
